Toilets Save Oysters: New York City Toilet Recycling Project

An initiative led by New York City's Department of Environmental Protection aims at restoring the oyster population in the Delaware Watershed, by taking old, inefficient toilets from New York City public schools and creating beds to help grow 50,000 oysters. The toilets removed from the public schools are being replaced with more water-efficient toilets that are estimated to save up to 4 million gallons of water per day.
